Exhibition
Voyage/temps suspendu.
Denis Olivier appreciates this stretching of time that's no longer on the scale of human life. The universe he's recreating becomes strangely different, mysterious, silent, like a void... distended that teaches us a sense of detail. Silence fills this universe with an airy transparency that makes perceptions clearer.
Denis Olivier patiently watches out for sought-after forms, presences that have been forgotten there, probably for a very long time, immutable, in that same silence and under those same tumultuous skies. The choice of uncluttered landscapes makes the slightest of these landscapes live intensely details, the slightest trace, like so many signatures left on the ground. The graphic design of shapes creates abstract es?ces, straight lines and curves oppose and answer each other, horizons are marked by a line of light as thin as the edge of a blade.
Through the rigor of black and white, the care and meticulousness brought to the construction of his photos, Denis Olivier obtains paintings conducive to meditation, to a real journey through suspended time.
Exhibition also proposed as part of the festival Itineraries of the Photographers Travellers 2007.
